Hospital Bound with Kidney Infection =[

I have been in pain for a week now on and off. I honestly thought it was because I sleep in one position at night. I had been up Monday/Tuesday with bad pain on my left side. I slept in till about 3PM on Tuesday and had the worse pain ever on my left side under my ribs. I told my husband and he talked me into going to the ER. After giving urine samples and blood,I was told I have a severe kidney infection. The doctor said that my white blood cells were too many to count and I have a bad infection that needs to be taken care of ASAP. I freaked out of course. He told me I need to stay overnight and we will go from there. When the nurse came in after he talked to me she gave me my second dose of morphine. I had a BAD reaction. Almost like I do when I have penicillin. My arm swelled up and I had hives everywhere. I was short of breath. AH! It was SCARY!

I am now sitting here at the hospital in my bed crying. I feel horrible.  The admitting doc came in and told me that I will be here several days. :O This sucks! I will keep you all posted on the situation via my blog and Fan page. They told me I need more antibiotics given to me in my IV and pain meds to control the pain. BLAH!  She said that it could have been caused by a UTI in the past.. I just had one last month. :( I am completely dedicated to my blog so I will post here and there but I can't post any review until I get home. I know you all understand.

  2. How horrible! I went through years of kidney troubles and was hospitalized several times. Please remember to talk to your doctor about any OTC medications you EVER take--some can affect the kidneys (I found out the hard way.) Take care.

  3. I know what it is like to suffer with a bladder infection, but not a kidney infection! I hope that you heal quickly, and get to come home! I am glad that your husband took you to the hospital because this is serious! God bless and will be praying for you!

  4. Oh no! Sounds very painful! I have not had a kidney infection, but I have had kidney stones. Either way...no fun! Hope the meds work their magic soon and you are home and feeling better!
