Gaylord Opryland {ICE! The Nutcracker} So Much Fun!

It has been a tradition for three years now to go to Opryland around the holidays. We are always excited to see what the theme of ICE! is going to be. For 2015, ICE! is a Nutcracker theme! ICE! The Nutcracker, is brought to life in TWO MILLION pounds of hand-carved ice sculptures, including two-story tall ice slides. This awe-inspiring experience concludes with the wonder and majesty of a full Nativity in stunning, crystal clear ice. It is all part of A Country Christmas at Gaylord Opryland. ICE! is an indoor winter wonderland featuring:
  • Walk-through holiday attraction, kept at a chilly 9 degrees
  • Two million pounds of hand-carved ice sculptures
  • Four ice slides
  • Six individual rooms depicting the story of The Nutcracker
  • The Frostbite Factory — a live carving zone
  • Full Nativity in stunning, crystal clear ice

Our family had the chance to go, and I am so excited to share my photos with you! There were SO many, I had to make several collages! It was SO fun seeing the story come to life in these sculptures! I am always so amazed at how they did it! Forty artisans from Harbin, China are hand-carving magnificent ice sculptures and two-story ice slides. ICE!, presented by Pepsi, also features The Frostbite Factory, where guests can see the ice artisans in action.

We had so much fun and it was an experience like no other! There was even an Ice bar!  Guests age 21 and over can chill out at On The Blocks—the exclusive bar inside ICE! This upgrade includes a sampling of Jackson Morgan Southern Cream and Goose Island Beer, plus a Maker’s Mark or Absolut specialty drink, or Hidden Crush Cabernet or Chardonnay, in a souvenir glass. Ambient lighting, music and fun photo opportunities set the mood for this unique VIP experience.
Lydia loved the sugar plum fairies! I think everything is so beautiful!
As you can see above, you can go down ICE SLIDES! Lydia went down over and over again! SO FUN!
Every year, they have the beautiful nativity scene too! So gorgeous! Did you know they have a Gingerbread Decorating Corner sponsored by PEEPS®?! We bought a decorating kit to take home, and met te gingerbread man! SO CUTE! You can have a VIP guided tour, and even POP THE QUESTION! Check out that package! Oh my that would have been SO romantic if it happened to me! Prices vary for tickets. You can see those below! Purchase HERE
You can see more about Combo Tickets, VIP prices and more via their website! For more chilly fun, guests can brave the hills of the Arctic Plunge Snow Tubing attraction — an extreme six- lane tubing hill covered in 1.5 million pounds of real snow — or visit Glacier Glide Ice Skating, a 6,000 square foot outdoor ice rink. New for 2015 is Santa’s Snowball Toss, a carnival-style game to test guests’ aim. Check out ChristmasAtGaylordOpryland.com for more amazing fun. Overall- we had a BLAST~ Be sure to bundle up if you go! They also have the blue parkas that you have to wear while you are inside. They supply, of course! You can also visit the website to see which Gaylord near you has the ICE! Event!
