I am SO excited to see this movie! This looks downright HILARIOUSSSSSSSSS!!!!! After Scott and Kate Johansen (Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler) lose their daughter Alex’s college fund, they become desperate to earn it back so she can pursue her dream of attending a university. With the help of their neighbor Frank (Jason Mantzoukas), they decide to start an illegal casino in his house.
Let me tell you about a time that I went frantic. A few years ago, Lydia wanted to play softball. I had put back the money for her bat, helmet and sign up fee. It was pricey! I put it in a certain pocket of my purse. The time came and it was a DAY before sign ups. I went to go and get the money from my bag and it was GONE. I was frantic. I thought maybe I had lost it? Maybe it fell out of my bag somewhere? I ended up selling a few items in the local yard sale groups on Facebook to make the money to earn it so that she could play. Fast forward the following month- I wanted to change bags. I dumped mine out and noticed a hole in the lining of the pocket. I put my hand in it and guess what was there? THE MONEY! I still laugh at this to this day, however, I busted my ass to make the money so that she could play that year.
The lengths that "Scott & Kate" go to, to make the money back looks hilarious! Check out the trailer to see for yourself.

  1. I was selling everything around the house to be able to send my son to summer computer camp

  2. I really don't have any funny or insane stories but I did have several yard sales to pay for Summer camp. I did try to donate plasma once but my veins weren't good enough, which was kind of good because I hate needles.

  3. I don't have a truly insane story, but every year my daughter had to sell gift wrap paper as a school fundraiser. She really wanted to win the prizes in the catalog for selling certain amounts, so we would go around the entire neighborhood and try to sell as much as we could.

  4. Well one year we had no money for Christmas, so I decided to get a job standing on street corners handing out sale notices for a business and holding a sign to get my kids presents for Christmas! It was so cold outside, but I bundled up and did it for my kids to have a good Christmas.

  5. It isn't too funny but i have worked many extra days at work and longer hours as well just to make sure my kids had the money to let them go on school trips. I have also taken in their fund raisers to work to get more people to help them out.

  15. I can't think of anything funny or insane that I've done. I've bought plenty of things I really didn't need when the kids were selling things for clubs they belonged to.

  17. So my daughter and her friend could become the high sales in girlscout cookies, we took almost every open shift to sell cookies- including sitting outside in the snow in front of the pizza parlour! I think we had a bunch of sales from those braving the snow because they felt sorry for us! (the 2 girls did get the high sales patch!)
I won't even go into what we did to afford gymnastic for my daughter for 14 years! Leos, competitions, hour of weekly classes- I think I'd be rich right now if we hadn't let her follow her dreams back then.

  18. our children are very young and so far we haven't gone overboard for them. i tend to think that going overboard just sets them up for disappointment further down the line. there will be times in their lives when we aren't able to bail them out or go overboard for them.

  20. I spent many years getting up in the wee hours of the morning - 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year - delivering newspapers to make the money I needed for my three amazing daughters to take dance and tumbling classes. I also worked off part of their tuition by cleaning the studios. Their combined tuition would have been over $400 a month and I remember one recital paying out over $500 for all their costumes. I don't regret one minute of it. I was able to do for my girls and still be a stay-at-home mom for them. All three of my girls have medals from tumbling in the AAU Junior Olympics, top three place trophies from the USTA national tumbling competitions, and all danced in multiple Nutcrackers in the Chicago area. My oldest danced with the Joffrey the first year they came to Chicago!

  21. We sent our daughter to ballet lessons for six years and she did several performances a year. It was very time consuming during performance season with all the rehearsals and performances, especially around the holidays was busy, busy busy! It was a great experience and lots of great memories!

  23. I started my daughter in gymnastics at 18 months old because I was convinced that she was going to be a world class gymnast. She does love gymnastics but I've had to back off and realize that pushing her isn't healthy! She is so cute to watch though!
