Give the gift of homemade peppermint and buttercream scrub this year with Udderly Smooth! #UdderlySmoothCrew

Speaking of other uses! This is why I wanted to share this post with you. Did you know there are so many possibilities when it comes to repurposing lotion? 
Recently, I had the chance to work with Udderly Smooth and I received a variety of products to come up with an idea on re-using a product for a beauty hack, or anything I could think of. I chose to use the Udderly Smooth body cream to make unscented, peppermint and buttercream sugar body scrub. 
Making this sugar scrub has never been easier! Check out how I was able to put this together below.
You need the following for your creation:
  • Ball® 4oz Quilted Crystal Jelly Jars.
  • 1 cup of white sugar ( makes two 4 oz. mason jar batches)
  • Peppermint Essential Oil (You can find this online anywhere, or stores like Michaels, Hobby Lobby, in the soap isles)
  • Buttercream Essential Oil (You can find this online anywhere, or stores like Michaels, Hobby Lobby, in the soap isles)
  • Mica powder. (You can find this online anywhere, or stores like Michaels, Hobby Lobby, in the soap isles. This is a safe alternative to make your scrub any color you want. I already had shamrock green and red)
  • Udderly Smooth Body Cream
Put on gloves and mix two tbs of body cream, two drops of essential oil of choice and 1/2 tsp of mica powder together until blended. You can add more mica powder as needed to make the color you want, or to achieve the color you want. I took 1 cup of sugar in a bowl and poured my mixture until blended and mixed together.  I then poured into the jars. If you want to make unscented, you don't use the oils and you do not really need the mica unless you want it to look pretty like I did! It is easy to use!
While in the shower, you can apply to your body and scrub, or you can use it out of the shower to scrub your feet and rinse after. It also works great to use as a hand scrub. I have not used it on my face yet, and do not plan to because my face is sensitive, however, I am sure the unscented will be great for a facial scrub! This will leave your hands, feet and body feeling so smooth!
I used the red to make peppermint scrub! It reminds me of Christmas! 
 The green is buttercream scented! Reminds me of cupcake icing... MMM smells so amazing!
 The unscented is pretty too! I am sure that adding the buttercream oil would have made more sense for this one though. 
Overall, I love how easy that this was to make! This will be a great idea to gift this year! So inexpensive and it will wow everybody!

Last minute simple Halloween treat bags for Lydia's class!

I found out today that my daughter is having a Halloween party at school. As soon as I heard party- I immediately knew that I had to spring into action and make some goodie bags for the class! ( YES! I AM THAT MOM )
We headed to Cost Plus World Market and bought some Halloween goodies to put in them! They were out of Halloween goodie bags, so we headed to The Dollar Tree to get those and the Smarties!
 It literally took maybe, 10 minutes or so to put together 20 bags. I couldn't pass up the 25% off deal at Cost Plus World Market anyways! Check out what all we bought to put inside of these! 
We found these Vidal Creepie Gummi Candies $1.19 in a pack of 4, and we bought 5 packs! We also found a pack of 25 count Mini Cheese Balls 25% off, for only $3.99! The Halloween Erasers were $3.75 after 25% off for a pack of 12 and we bought two packs! The sticky eyeballs were $3.75 after 25% off for a pack of 12, we bought two packs. The bendable mummy toys were $3.75 after 25% off for a pack of 12 and lastly, the sticky skeletons were $3.75 after 25% off for a pack of 12! Of course, we found a pack of 25 goodie bags for $1 at Dollar Tree, and Smarties for $1 at Dollar Tree! Lydia is thrilled to hand these out in class Friday! I am thrilled we scored what we did, AND we have some stuff left over after making our bags!

Top tips to keep the kids healthy this winter

As the colder weather draws nearer, it seems like it won’t be long until we’re all burdened with colds and flus. Little ones are particularly affected by bacterial and viral infections as their immune systems aren’t fully developed yet. There is no need to panic though as there are some simple steps that can be taken to keep your children nice and healthy this winter through changing their lifestyle or diet to accommodate the colder weather.

Make sure they’re getting some extra vitamin C
As there is less sunshine during winter, it is important to supplement your child’s vitamin C intake. This is best achieved through eating fresh fruit, such as oranges, or drinking orange juice if they’re reluctant to eat the fruit. The NHS says that other good sources of vitamin C include red and green peppers, strawberries, blackcurrants and Brussel sprouts. There are also a wide range of child-friendly tablets that can ensure they’re getting their recommended daily allowance.

Keep them tucked up nice and warm at night
A good night’s sleep can make the world of difference to your child’s health. Whilst adults are recommended to have 9 hours sleep each night, children are supposed to get even more (somewhere in the region of 10-19 hours depending on their age). If they’re finding it hard to stay in their own bed, it might be wise to encourage them to make it their own. By involving your children in decisions like choosing their own bedspread that suits their tastes, or letting them peruse sites like Bedstar for a new bed or mattress if the one they have needs to be replaced will engender a sense of ownership for their bed.

Encourage them to wash their hands regularly
This is such a simple thing to encourage your child to do but will have a huge impact on their ability to stay healthy. By getting them to clean their hands after they use the bathroom, before they eat and throughout the day they will drastically reduce their chances of catching a bacterial or viral infection. It might be easier for children to want to do this by making it into a game rather than a boring chore that they need to remember. There are lots of soaps available in fun colors with their favorite characters on but perhaps your child would be motivated by the promise of getting a treat or a gold star on their reward chart.

We went to see the Goosebumps Movie! {My Thoughts} & $25 Fandango GC Giveaway

We had a mommy/daughter date yesterday to see the new Goosebumps movie! Scored bargain tickets and spent $12 total for the both of us. Couldn't pass that up! I have to say that this was a pretty good movie! Lydia loved every bit of it. She is 9 years old and loves reading the books! So this was a great movie to take her to. If you haven't heard of it check out what it is all about:
Upset about moving from the big city to a small town, young Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) finds a silver lining when he meets his beautiful neighbor Hannah (Odeya Rush). The teen is surprised to learn that Hannah's mysterious father is R.L. Stine (Jack Black), the famous author of the best-selling "Goosebumps" series. When Zach accidentally unleashes the monsters from the fantastic tales, it's up to Stine, his daughter and Cooper to return the beasts back to the books where they belong.
I knew that it would be a good movie, as soon as I seen that it had Dylan Minnette and Jack Black in it.  Being that it is Halloween time, it was also the perfect time to go. This movie isn't scary at all, and I completely recommend it for school aged kids and little ones. 
It does have some monsters in it, so be cautious, but nothing SCARY. If my 9 year old can like it, anyone can because she is a scaredy cat! I love how the entire movie was "go go go". It wasn't slow at all and from the beginning it had you wondering what was going to come next.

SPOILER ALERT************ Do not read anymore if you don't want the movie spoiled.***

The parts that Lydia laughted the most about was then the Abominable Snowmangot distracted eating candy in the ice rink, and when the invisible kid smacked one of the kids in the car. I don't know why kids laugh when people get hurt, but yes.. my kid laughted. I liked the gnomes.. LOL. You have to watch it to see what I am talking about. It has a bit of a love story in it too. All of the monsters get released by Slappy (TheVentriloquist doll) and the books get burned, Zach, Champ and Hannah as well as R.L. Stine have to get them back in the book by writing a new story. In the end, Zach saves them all. Monsters terrorize the town and it makes for an adventurious movie! 
Zach falls in love with Hannah (whom turns out to be a ghost that R.L. Stine made up in one of his books because he was lonely. She gets sucked back into the book, however, at the end of the movie. R.L. Stine pulls out a new book and Hannah is right there. He burns it and she gets to be here forever. I thought it was a super cute movie! Lydia loved it and I can't wait to buy it for her! I recommend this movie to anyone with kids or anyone that has a love for Goosebumps in general. I used to read the books and watch the shows on TV when I was a kid. I am happy my kid gets to experience it too.
