If you like anything by J.K. Rowling, you are going to like The Casual Vacancy. The Casual Vacancy is a three part mini series based on J.K. Rowling's 500 page book. What is it about? Check it out: The Casual Vacancy, a three-part mini-series, centers on Pagford, a seemingly idyllic English village with a cobbled market square and ancient abbey. Behind the pretty façade, however, is a town at war. The rich at war with the poor, children at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils.
I LOVE that this series has Michael Gambon in it!, who played Dumbledore in most of the Harry Potter films. The title explains it all. There is a Vacancy on the parish council caused by the sudden death of Barry Fairbrother (Rory Kinnear), a man in his 40s with a wife and four children who is very popular in the less snobbish parts of Pagford. It is a really good show, and I am happy to have it on Blu-ray now. If you like drama, this is one you can't miss. The Casual Vacancy can now be purchased on Blu-ray and DVD. Don't watch around the kids, in my opinion anyway! You can find this on Amazon! Please note that prices vary. It is on Blu-ray for $22 as of 8/20.
Have you read the book? Did you watch the series on HBO? Tell me about it.
