"Disclosure: The Small Things received an all expense paid trip to Los Angeles with Disney to cover the premier of Finding Dory and a press junket. All opinions are 100% my own and were not swayed in any way."
If you would have told me when I started blogging that I would get to meet this "movie dad", I would have told you that you are crazy. Eugene Levy is best known for his role in a well known movie called American Pie. This time, he plays a different kind of dad! He is Dory's dad, Charlie.
I was excited to see him and his humor filled the room. As soon as he starts talking, you don't want it to stop. He is so funny! Check out the interview below!
Question: How did you get to be a part of Finding Dory? His reply: I got a phone call and it was a lovely call, asking me if I wanted to be a part of it. Of course I said yes, kind of jumped at it. Didn’t take too much thinking to be involved in the sequel to Finding Nemo.

He was also asked if he recorded by himself! He said that he was able to record with Diane Keaton (she voices Dory's mom, Jenny) when they were in two different cities, He was in Toronto and she was in LA. They hooked up cameras so they could both see each other. He said that doesn't happen often, and usually you do it completely alone- and that was nice to do!

Another question that was asked was
"What’s been your favorite part about this whole experience?" His reply: It's a great story and animated features are a different way of working than doing a normal movie. The storyline here was a great storyline and it was kind of funny and had such an emotional impact to it. When I read the script it had that same emotional impact. You could feel it when you were reading.

Another question: "One of the things I loved about your character is how charming he was of Dory that never was a disability to him. How did that play out for you may be thinking back to parenting your own children or thinking of other parents that you’ve encountered of really having that spirit of affirmation?
" His reply: "It’s always great to play a parent who is that supportive and,  kind of life affirming. One of the great things again about how this was written is because this dad always tries to be funny, to lighten the load sort of speak and not make it quite so heavy and not make it quite so scary for Dory.

Another question came along asking who his favorite character was besides his own. He said: LITTLE DORY was his favorite! "when I first heard that voice I honestly I got so emotional" He also said "I’ve never heard anything so sweet in all my life."
I have to agree! Her voice is SO CUTE! Her little character is just adorable!

He was also asked when the first time he saw the film was and he said the Premier was the first! He had nothing but kind words! "Last night when I saw the movie, I think what impressed me the most was number one just the brilliance of the entire project and how beautifully the animation is."

I loved this interview because Eugene Levy is just an interesting person. I could talk to him all day. I loved his character and I love him as an actor in general.
