Disclosure: The Small Things received an all-expense paid trip to Los Angeles with Disney to cover the premiere of Finding Dory and a press junket. All opinions are 100% my own and were not swayed in any way.
During my trip to Los Angeles, we learned about Pixar In A Box! If you haven't heard of it, you are missing out. Pixar In A Box started with a collaboration with Pixar and Khan Academy.
A non-profit that provides free online materials and resources to support personalized education for learners of all ages.Khan Academy serves to inspire, instruct and guide our users' learning. Our platform contains practice exercises, instructional videos, dashboard analytics and teacher tools which empower learners in and outside of the classroom to study at their own pace. Our learning experience adapts to each individual, helps them to see their progress and goals, creates personalized recommendations about what to learn next and motivates them to master the skills they seek.
TO put it lightly- Rember being in math class and thinking " I will never use that in the real world!" With Pixar In A Box, you will use it. Animators use all kinds of math skills and more! Check out this video to learn more. They are so addicting to watch! With Pixar In A Box, you can learn how Pixar movies come to life! The work that they put into it, and how you can create on your own! For example, check out exploring effects.
You maybe wondering- "What does this have to do with your Finding Dory Trip?" Well, Pixar In A Box has a FINDING DORY effects lesson that you have to learn about! Check out this small video on exploring effect to see what I am talking about.
Effects are animations that are not characters. In Finding Dory, the effects team creates water in many forms. This lesson tells how they use particles to create water effects. It is a really neat concept and I did not realize how much went into making theses films with such effects. Check out this lesson that relates to Finding Dory and learn how you can work with particle effects. This lesson gives yourself and kids step by step on how water effects are made!
This is a great way to get your kids learning and they can have fun! They watch the lessons and they can learn hands on by making effects on their own with the information that they learned.
I don't know about you- but I think that this is just amazing. Visit Pixar In A Box and make a FREE account today! YES you heard that! It is FREE! You can have a parent account and keep progress of your childs work. I just love that. Visit  Khan Academy on their social media channels below to stay up to date with the latest! Thanks for watching!
Will you be trying Pixar In A Box with your kiddos? This is a great rainy day activity too! I would love to hear!
