When on my recent press trip to Sonoma Raceway a few months ago, I attended the Cars 3 press conference with some amazing people. I can't wait to share with you fun facts from the press conference! This may contain spoilers. So read at your own caution. First of all, let me introduce you to Director Brian Fee, Producer Kevin Reher and Co-Producer Andrea Warren.

The night before, we were able to attend a screening for Cars 3 at Pixar. We did not see much footage, however, we have seen enough to give us that "WE WANT MORE" feeling.

Fun things from the press conference that I think you will enjoy and want to know.
Fun Fact 1
Brian Fee was asked:
The writer said at the beginning of this project the obstacle faced was that Lightning didn’t have a problem. How tough enough was that to crack, to find a problem for him to have to solve?
We learned from this that they allow characters to be imperfect because that is where they get alot of their stories. It took research with McQueen. They even went as far as talking to Jeff Gordon! They started talking to other athletes seeing people who were at the top of the game who were big celebrities, who had it all and facing that expiration date all athletes have.
Brian Fee: "I think all of us, I think everybody in the world probably has that feeling that they know what it’s like for someone younger to come in and not, and next generation and can, you can start to feel like you are no longer valid anymore. So, we seemed like an honest thing to latch onto."

Fun Fact 2
Before they get real actors involved, they do scratch acting with folks from around the studio as they are trying to craft a story! They experiment with the story and try things. One of Brian Fee’s memories with Owen Wilson in the booth is when he looked at the lines and says how it doesn’t make sense and gave an example like: “Wouldn’t the character do this?”. He is also a writer and he wears his writers hat in the booth. Often what ends up on the screen is something that wasn’t on the page to start out with!
Fun Fact 3
They put a lot of time playing with everything that storm says so it is almost nice. When you first meet him you think what sounds like a compliment, but you are not sure.
Fun Fact 4
The message of this movie is buried in McQueen’s story. You will more than likely shed tears. I DID. And it is heartbreaking and inspiring all in one. We learned that the mission is finding purpose in life. What is important when you are twenty is probably not necessarily what is important when you are forty-five. You go through changes in life.
Fun Fact 5
Between two hundred and fifty and two hundred and sixty people. Don't skip past the credits when you watch these movies! These people work so hard. They said that "It takes a village". That is so true. When on this trip, I learned that there are so many steps to making a movie that I had no clue about. Departments that I never thought of. Meeting some of these people has given me a new appreciation in life and Pixar/Disney movies.
Cars 3 is in theaters June 16, 2017.
